FAQ

Q. What day/s is training? Do they train once or twice per week?

A.

Training days are decided on Muster Day, which is the day that teams will be announced, and where you will meet your coach and manager.  The training day is generally decided by the team as a whole, but in the end, it does come down to the day best suited to the coach.

Most teams will train once per week, however some higher divisions and ages will train twice.

Q. My daughter would like to play soccer. Do you have any girl teams?

A.

Yes, our girls and ladies teams are rapidly growing. In fact we are one of the biggest clubs for female football in the Hills Football Association. Girls and Ladies soccer is played on a Sunday. Over 35 ladies play on Friday Nights.

Q. Why grade players?

A.

The Rouse Hill Rams Soccer Division is part of the Hills Football Association (HFI). Clubs within this association must grade some players to ensure that teams play with and against players of similar skill and ability. In 2020 we have adopted an approach which allows for both those children who want to push their skill level and try to improve their division selection, and for those who want to play with their mates.

For full details, please see the Grading Policy on this website

Q. How is grading done?

A.

Grading is carried out by a panel of committee members and and if available an  independant experienced consultant. Players are assessed on their all round soccer abilities and information provided by the previous seasons coaches. Grading will take place in early February and only players that have registered on MyFootballClub website and paid in full, will be eligible to be graded.

Q. When will I know what team my child is in?

Q. Where do I purchase uniforms from and what do I need?

A.

Shorts, Socks and other Rams Apparel will be sold on selected days prior to the commencement of the season, and will need to be purchased from the club before the season starts.

During the season they are available for purchase from the Rams Canteen.

There are also hoodies, jackets, beanies, scarves, caps and other merchandise for sale if desired.

Please note: the playing shirts remain the property of the club.

All players will need their own soccer boots and shin guards.

Q. When does the season start?

A.

Generally the season commences in the first weekend of April.

Q. Is there anything else I need to know as a parent?

A.

Yes, the club is run by volunteers and we need help on a Saturday morning to ensure the smooth running of the day. Throughout the season your team will be required to assist with set up, canteen, BBQ and pack up on their allocated week. The number of allocated weeks will depend on the number of teams

Q. What divisions are there?

A.

Divisions will depend on the number of players in the age group, both at the club and within the Hills Football Association.  Once registrations have been completed, club grading (trials) will be held to determine the divisions.

Q. My child wants to play with their friend/s. Can they do this?

A.

For the Under 6 and Under 7 age groups – yes absolutely.

For Under 8s and above, the club will consider requests for children/friends to play together, however, it is important to note that if the children are not of the same playing ability, they will be placed in the lower child’s division.  The club does recommend that children play in the division that they are most suited to, and our experience shows that they have a better experience all around and do make friends throughout the season.

If you have a friend request, please indicate this at the time of registration.

Q. What are the dates for the 2022 season?

A.

Please note that the season dates are set by Hills Football, and this is an 18 round competition.

Registrations will open on January 4th, 2022

The season will commence on Friday 1st April, Saturday 2nd April, and Sunday 3rd April.

There will be no games on the Easter weekend (15 - 17th April)

There will be games throughout the July school holidays, so please plan accordingly.

Semi Finals will be held 12th, 13th and 14th August

Finals will be held 19th, 20th and 21st August

Grand Finals will be held 26th, 27th and 28th August.

Please note: Under 6s to Under 11s is non-competition football as mandated by FFA. Scores and ladders are not published and there are no finals.

Q. When will the draw (season fixture) be available?

A.

The draw (season fixture) for Under 8’s and above is prepared and released by Hills Football. It is most likely that the draw will be released a week before the commencement of the season.

Please note: Rams does not have any control over the ground allocation or timeslot for this draw.

For the Under 6s and Under 7s – as this is run in-house, Rams will release the full draw prior to the start of the season. Under 7s will play games at either 8am or 9am and Under 6s will play games at either 9am or 10am.

Q. What is the Football 4 All program?

A.

The Football For All Program was established by FNSW in 2008 to provide playing opportunities for people with disabilities and to provide a support network for volunteers, coaches, parents and players.

Rams have been running a Football For All Program for a number of years where we offer the opportunity for players to enjoy football in a fun, safe and inclusive environment.

The Football For All Program is conducted on Saturday mornings at The Hills Centenary Park – the time and start date will be communicated.

Q. What age can my child start playing soccer?

A.

Small sided football starts with the Under 6 age group. If you child turns 5 in the current year (even if it is after the soccer season is finished), they can play in the Under 6 age group.

Q. What is the right age group for my child?

A.

The age group is based on the age that your child will be turning in the current year.

For example, for the 2021 season, if your child turned 10 on 1st January 2021, they will be in the Under 10 age group. If your child turns 10 on 31st December 2021, they will still be in the Under 10 age group.

Q. My child hasn’t/ I haven’t played soccer before. Can they/I still play?

A.

Absolutely!  We encourage children and adults of all experience levels to play with the club.  Teams are graded so that each player can play in a division that is appropriate to their skill level.

Q. Where are the games held?

A.

The Under 6 and Under 7 age groups play all their games at the Rams home ground, The Hills Centenary Park, Commercial Road, Rouse Hill.

The Under 8 age group through to seniors will play games at a combination of grounds within the Hills District – games at the Rams home ground (The Hills Centenary Park) and other clubs’ home grounds.

Q. What about wet weather? How do we know whether games are on?

A.

Grounds may be closed either by council, or by the club.  If the council decides to close the grounds, they will make the decision (generally) on Friday afternoon and inform the clubs accordingly.  Sometimes the grounds remain open at the club’s discretion – if this occurs and the committee decide that the grounds have become unsafe/unplayable then they will close the grounds.

In either case, keep your eye on our Facebook page, and there will be announcements as soon as decisions are made.  Please bear in mind that some grounds may be closed while others are kept open, so do not assume that because one ground is closed, that all of them are.
